Complying with the Care Quality Commission standards will mean having to invest heavily in bringing both existing premises up to date. The other option, said practice manager David Clippingdale, was to make that investment in a single new location with the scope for expanding services, offering more therapies on site such as physiotherapy and chiropody, improving parking and disabled access. Some larger NHS practices host consultant surgeries, said Mr Clippingdale.
Transport arrangements that would need to be considered but most people already drive to the surgeries.
Of the 100 replies received at time of speaking (middle of May), Mr Clippingdale said around 75 per cent were in favour.
The ideal solution would be a site equidistant between West End and Chobham, said Mr Clippingdale. “If we could get a plot along Bagshot Road, I would be very happy.”
