Throughout British Pie Week from 7-13 March, The Queen’s Head (Weybridge), The March Hare (Guildford) and The Sun Inn (Chobham) pubs will be hosting ‘Pie in the Sky’ – a competition designed to test the culinary creativeness of pie-lovers in the Surrey area. Whether it’s replacing beef with buffalo for a twist on tradition, or something a little more daring, such as a Mac ‘n’ Cheese short crust, entrants can let their imagination run wild. No recipe required and all suggestions welcome, participants can submit their ideas either via Twitter by tweeting the pub with the hashtag #WBCPieWeek, emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or by visiting their local pub and filling out an entry card.
The competition will run across eight locations from The White Brasserie Company, a portfolio of welcoming pubs in the South offering seasonal British menus with a French twist. All entries will be judged by area chef, Mark Woore, and executive chef, Clive Fretwell, with three lucky winners to be announced on 24 March and each winner will also receive a £100 voucher to enjoy at any one of the White Brasserie Company pubs.
The trio of triumphant pies will appear on the specials board throughout White Brasserie Company’s ‘Festival of Flavour’, a week long celebration of food where diners can embark on an adventure through flavour across its collection of pubs from 11 – 17 April. From daring blind taste tests to adventurous street sampling, the week will see a host of events, themed dinners, tastings and competitions taking place.
