It’s over for another year... so it’s time to think about 2013

Chobham Festival took a final bow for another year with the Schools’ Prom at a packed St Lawrence Church.

But planning has started for next year, the 20th anniversary and one of the years in three when the music and other events are combined with a flower festival.

New for 2012 was the ChobLit literary lunch with TD Griggs author of Distant Thunder, and Chobham poet Sally Blackmore.

Regular favourites were as popular as ever, and no more so than the Jazz Evening in the Village Hall. The two classical concerts in the church were a Chopin recital by renowned pianist Lucy Parham and a Magic of Vienna orchestral evening.

The Chobham Morris Dancers brought jollity to the centre of the sunny but slightly chilly village on Saturday lunchtime with their sticks, bells and nimble footwork. Then it was into the Festival Café in the Church Hall for warming homemade eats, light music from the Sounds Easy trio and a view of Chobham Art Group’s exhibition.

The five artists from the group, who are all talented hobbyist painters, were thrilled with the interest in their work and the sales of more than £900 worth of paintings.
